Ashwaubenon Youth Baseball offers tournament teams for players that are looking to play at a more competive level.
Tournament Team Overview
Tournament team provides players with an oppurtunity to take baseball to the next level. Since AYB works in partnership with the Ashwaubenon Park & Recreation department, our tournament teams are open to Ashwaubenon residents and students in Ashwaubenon schools. These are competive teams that will travel to and play in weekend tournaments. Tournament teams will also participate in additional practices which can run throughout the teams tournament season. Some coaches may organize fall or winter practices as well.
When and where teams play and practice is up to that teams coach each summer. Young teams like 7U may start with only a few tournaments and are typically near the Ashwaubenon area, but as players get older, the number of tournaments may increase and teams may travel to farther locations.
IMPORTANT: Players who play on a tournament team, must also play in our league. Please note, league and tournament are very different. League is a fun, recreational atmosphere focused on improvement and providing oppurtnities for players to experience different positions. In league, if its safe to do so, kids will generally rotate around and play several different positions. Tournament team is competive atmosphere where kids are more likely to play positions that best help the team. Playing time and positions are not garaunteed on tournament teams and are determined at the coaches discretion.
Please remember, tournament team coaches are volunteer's and they often give up a significant amount of time to organize and coach these teams. They are often presented with a number of difficult decisions throughout the course of a season.
Tournament Team registration for 8U and up typically opens in the fall for the following season. This allows coaches to organize winter practices and helps us organize and get uniforms ready as some spring tournaments may start in early May. Registration for 7U is usually in the spring.
Specific dates and deadlines will be posted on the AYB home page each season when they become available and reminder emails will be sent out when registration opens and nears closing.
HOW TO REGISTER: Registration needs to be completed online on this site. Registration links will be available on our home page at aybaseball.org when registration is open.
Because tournament team players are required to play in our league, tournament team players will be allowed to register for both league and tournament team at the same time.
Tournament team tryouts will be organized if deemed necessary. If needed, each coach will organize a tryout for their team and communicate a date, time and location with player's parents.
If tryouts are needed, they will be run in the fall (with the exception of 7U). This may be during the September or October timeframe. Situations vary from year to to year, so details about each team will be communicated by email if a tryout is needed.

Ashwaubenon Youth Baseball will provide jerseys and hats for each tournament team player. Parents will need to provide a white pants for each player. Rubber or plastic molded baseball cleats are recommended and would also be the responsibility of parents.
Baseballs and catcher's equipment will be provided for each team by Ashwaubenon Youth Baseball. Most players tend to bring their own bats so AYB does not provide bats for each team. However, if you do not have a bat, someone on each team is generally willing to share. If you are planning on purchasing a bat for your child, please see the baseball bat notice below. For hygienic and safety reasons, AYB prefers to have each player provide their own properly fit batting helmet. In case of hardship, we do have a couple helmets we could loan out for a season.
Tournament Team players may be involved in tournaments that have different bat rules and requirements. It is possible tournaments will allow the USSSA 2 5/8" or 2 3/4" barrel size or some may only allow bats with a USABat stamp, but that determination will be made by the tournament and each teams coach.
Please be aware that our leagues have their own set of bat standards. Bats that may be eligible for use in tournaments, may not be allowed in our leagues. Typically, if you purchase a bat that can be used in our league, it will be allowed in tournaments as well.
Concessions are an important part of the game day experience for fans and players, and also a key revenue generator for AYB. Running the concessions for a summer of leagues and tournaments takes a significant amount of help. As such, in order to provide a fair and quality experience, we ask that parents share in the responsibility.
2022 Concession Deposit
We require each family to fulfill its concession stand obligation of working one shift per per tournament team player, in addition to any league obligations (each shift is about two hours long). You will receive an invitation to pick shift(s) via SignUpGenius in April or May.
If you do not sign up for a shift or fail to cover a shift, your player will be ineligible to play the following season if the $149 is not paid by the tryout date.
Code of Conduct
In order to maintain a fun and positive environment for all, coaches, players and parents will read and agree to follow a code of conduct policy during the registration process. Coaches will agree to be role models and promote teamwork in a safe and positive environment designed to encourage and improve skills of each player. Coaches, players and parents will agree to demonstrate self control and embrace the values of good sportsmanship.
The same code of conduct is also posted at Ashwaubomay Park and available online. Any spectator at the baseball park will need to follow this code of conduct. Even though only parents and players will need to sign the code of conduct, we will enforce these policies with anyone in attendance at the park.
