Back To Baseball - Practices Starting Next Week
June 16, 2020
Hello AYB Families and Friends,
Monday night the AYB Board met and I am thrilled to say we are a go for baseball! Starting this coming Monday, June 22, league and tournament teams will be allowed to begin practicing and we will be moving toward playing games in July. Thank you all for your patience as we prepared and planned for the start of the league year. Here is what to expect in the coming days:
Teams for each age group will be decided in the next couple of days. You will hear from your son’s coach via email by Friday. Practices for Single A will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, Double and Triple A on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Babe Ruth will be held on various dates throughout the week, coordinating with our JV and Varsity A’s teams.
Tournament teams will likely practice on the weekends. You should also expect communication from coaches if you haven’t already heard from them.
For practices, we ask that all players be dropped off at the main gateway, found between fields 2 and 3 (near the upper parking lot). We ask that parents that are not coaching drop their son off at the gateway and not enter the facility themselves. Do not drop your son off earlier than five minutes prior to practice time.
Players can be picked up after practice at the secondary gate, which is the walkway between field 3 and the Varsity field (walkway heads toward the water). Please be prompt for pickup. We want to clear the facility before the next teams arrive for practice.
We will keep all equipment for players and teams on the field. Dugouts will not be open.
Your son should bring their own water. We ask that no food, gum, or seeds be brought into the facility. Bathrooms are available to players only and we ask that they only be used if absolutely necessary. Encourage them to use your home restroom before coming to the park.
We will have sanitizer available, but encourage you to send your own along if you can. This will help us conserve at the park.
We will do our best to encourage distancing whenever we can. We know there will be a great number of challenges, but will do our best to adhere when we can.
All players must supply their own equipment, with catchers gear being the lone exception.
Please print and sign the attached waiver. Send with your son for the first day.
I know this was quite a bit to take in. Trust me when I tell you it is quite a bit to make sure we communicate! Once we get a few days into practices, I will send an update for how the game day experience will look. To stay safe and adhere to guidelines, things will look and feel different. But soon our kids will be playing baseball with their friends, enjoying summer nights at Ashwaubomay Park. And for that, I am extremely grateful.
