Reminders for AYB 2020:
AYB is a youth recreational baseball organization for boys aged 5-18, which includes T-Ball through American Legion baseball as well as weekend tournament teams. Tournament team tryouts are now held in the Fall of each year, and League tryouts are held in March (more details are provided during the registration process).
Uniforms: Uniforms and hats will be provided by AYB. Players are responsible for their own bats, gloves, helmets, cups, and baseball pants. We strongly recommend that all AYB players wear white baseball pants for all games.
Concession Stand Requirement (NEW!): We require each family to fulfill its concession stand obligation of working one shift per league player, and one additional shift per tournament team player (each shift is about two hours long). You will receive an invitation to pick a shift (shifts) via the online program SignUpGenius in April or May.
For league: If you do not sign up for a shift or fail to cover a shift, you will be charged an additional $149 the following season for your player to play.
For tournament team: If you do not sign up for a shift or fail to cover a shift, your player will be ineligible to play the following season if the $149 is not paid by the tryout date.
For 13 to 15 year olds: In leiu of the above, a deposit check of $149 is required per household due to the higher dropout rate. This check will be shreded as soon as your family fulfills its concession stand obligation. If you do not sign up for a shift or fail to cover a shift, your check will be cashed. Directions on how to submit this deposit check will be provided during the registration process.
Note: If you cannot make a shift, it is YOUR OBLIGATION to find a replacement.
Playing Above/Below Grade Level: There will be a box on the registration form that you can simply check if you would like your son to be considered to be kept down in the lower league one more year.
For those of you who are interested in having your son play in a league ABOVE his grade level, the petitioning process will remain the same. You will need to attend the February 5 AYB Board Meeting at 6:30 pm (Ashwaubenon Community Center, 900 Anderson Drive, Ashwaubenon, WI 54304) and simply state a few reasons why you think your son should be moved up to the next league. We will then contact you and let you know our decision.
Babe Ruth League: 7th-9th graders will be participating in the Bay Area League. The Bay Area League offers both a recreational league and a competitive league for each age group (recreational: 13U, 14U/15U, competitive: 13U, 14U, 15U). During registration, you will be asked if your child would like to try out and be considered for the competitive league. Please note that the competitive league is separate from the AYB tournament teams.
